The Toltec were the players of the sacred ballgame and great pyramid builders. The pyramids and temples were consecrated withhuman sacrifices with as many as 20,000 recorded for a single dedication. Thesewarrior's amulets or badges date to C.600-800 AD. Made from lustrous"mother of pearl" shell in the form of a butterfly with four holespierced. They were worn horizontally on the warrior's garment to identify himand bring him courage and strength.
